Oh, Coco! (MINE)

Happy Deepavali! I love and appreciate that we're a multi-cultural, multi-faith society. I'm also grateful for the opportunity we have had to learn about different beliefs and to experience a myriad of celebrations :-)

OK, on to this creation.....Things have taken a turn for the ornate! This necklace was inspired by a picture of a vintage Chanel necklace from the 1950's. Although most well known for her signature yards and yards of pearls, Mademoiselle Coco also designed jewellery which had a flavour of the cultures of India, Egypt and Persia.

This Blingalicious necklace features large cloisonne beads, Russian Amazonite, dyed red sponge coral and goldtone pewter bead spacers. Clasp is 14K gold-filled. Necklace measures about 16 1/2 inches. Sorry about the bad photo. The red is actually really rich and the whole necklace looks better "in person".

Metaphysical properties of Amazonite: This stone is said to be a stress-buster and helps alleviate exhaustion. It is also believed to provide clarity both physically (said to be good for skin), socially and mentally.

Metaphysical properties of Coral: Interestingly, coral is also supposed to be a stress-buster and is said to bring calm to the user. Some people believe that coral helps restore harmony too.
