All that Glitters...

You may have noticed that I like to use 14K gold-filled chains, ear-hooks and other bits and bobs in my creations. So I thought to post a little information here about what is gold-filled:

• Gold-filled is not the same as gold plating. Gold-filled items:
  - have the gold permanently bonded over a metal base
  - contain more gold than gold plated items and thus tend to cost more too
• Gold-filled items are generally tarnish-resistant
• Gold-filled items are safe for most people with sensitive skin; if you can wear gold, you should be able to wear gold-filled with no problems
• With proper care (treat gold-filled as you would your other gold items) , your gold-filled jewellery can last as long as your other precious metal jewellery
