Maria Teresa - SOLD

The cameo theme continues, as does the naming of the pieces after my grand-aunts.

Maria Teresa is actually Aunty Dick's real name, and she is the only one of her generation still around. I think she's 90 and is still active and fiercely independent.

When she was a baby, someone had commented that she was as cute as a little dicky bird (click here for a traditional nursery rhyme about two little dicky birds), and the nickname stuck.

So I named this piece after her as the cameo in this piece portrays a woman with a bird on her wrist.

The rest of the necklace is made with faceted black onyx tubes and white freshwater pearls accented by cloisonne bead caps. The fancy swirls are rhodium and should not tarnish.

Toggle clasp is white gold plated. Matching ear-rings can be made.

Metaphysical Properties of Onyx: Onyx is supposed to help eliminate negative thinking and sharpen one's wits. It is a stone associated with eloquence in public speaking and is also said to help those who are trying to change bad habits.

Metaphysical properties of Pearls: Pearls are a symbol of love, success and happiness. They are also said to bring wisdom.
