Mona Lisa - MINE

In primary school, her portrait hung in the principal's office -- imagine having an additional pair of eyes follow your every move when you had to see the headmistress!

Then about seven years ago, I got to see her "in person" for the first time. Don't ask me why, but I thought that the Mona Lisa would be much larger.

But there she was, a dimunitive presence in the same room as the largest painting in the Louvre, but the one which attracted the most frenzied attention.

Annnyways, Da Vinci's lady with the mysterious smile is the highlight of this necklace. The decades-old cameo is detachable and can be worn as a pin or a pendant.

Necklace features glass pearls and peridot.

I've not decided yet whether to let this piece go to a new home or keep it because this is the only Mona Lisa cameo I have (and I have a number ... hahahha!) which doubles up as a brooch.

We'll see.

Edited to add: According to the old box in which rested this cameo (and its chain), the pendant/brooch is Made in England.

Update (21 June): OK, this is mine now :)

Hahahahahaha! Well, I have a few other Mona Lisa cameos, so let's see what happens to each of them and which one of them decides to stay with me :)

Simone!!! You're giving the Met. Museum a run for their money!

You've got more 'vintage/retro' stuff than Imelda has shoes!
And, and, and.....I know your stuff is 'vintage'.....I mean Miss C wore some of the stuff when I was a kid in school and you've inherited some of it. She was kind of vintage when I was a child so that makes it 'antique'??? :D

Hahahhaha! No, no, I'm just a hoarder ... hahahha! Haven't reached the stage yet where I can charge admission for viewing ... HAHAHHAHA!

Yeah, I'm grateful for the stuff from Miss C (and yes she was vintage for a very long time ... hahahah!). But this piece is not one of hers.

Maybe one day I'll deconstruct some of her pieces which are falling apart (some necklaces need re-stringing) and see what happens.
