CabbieConversations - Visitor

For a few days last week, a large white tent occupied one lane outside the estate and black-clad mourners streamed by in droves.

I thought nothing of it till a cabby "uncle" noted that it was a relatively young man who was being mourned ("I read the obituaries," Mr Cabbie informed me). And then he said: "Life is short. We are just visitors here, so we better make the visit good."

That was just the jolt I needed!

I love my job and yeah, do enjoy being busy. But just as one would not spend a whole vacation doing just one thing, why zoom through life letting work bog one down?

So tonight, the never-ending pile of work can wait. Tonight, the beads are coming out and the tools will get an airing ... let the fun begin!!!!

Hey Suzie Wong!! Yeah, sometimes the insanity of work can get all-consuming and I for one lose sight of other important things in life. Thank goodness for insightful cabbie uncles!

Hey Chev!!!! Yeah, I've been not creating for far too long and working so darn much can't be healthy for the mind and soul.

Annnyways, the reason I have so many opportunities to meet interesting cabbie uncles is because I take lots of cabs...hahahha ... cos I'm always late!

And you know me, I can't shut up and often end up having nice chats with many of them.

Cabbies are a wonderful source of information and wild stories. I've found out all sorts of things from conversations with cabbies, including great places to eat (which seems to be the second favourite subject after complaining about the "gahment").

Heh!
