More Fun With Glass

Here are some of the beads which were made at the lampworking practice session yesterday. Like the previous post, these beads too are made from glass from Murano, Italy. Now if only those glass rods also came with the talent associated with the Murano glass artists!! I could do with that!

I'm getting slightly better at making them round (the green is intentionally not round), but am still a big bozo with patterns and colours! Next time, MAYBE I'll venture into dots and whatnots.

Today, I learned Glass Fusing where -- in overly simple terms -- sheet/shards of glass are arranged together and then fired in a kiln. We made two pendants which can be picked up later this week. I'll post the before and after pics when the completed pendants come home.

Here is a pic of the teacher looking at our pendants in the kiln. He's really nice and patient and encourages all his students to just let loose, explore and have fun.
