Fun With Glass
What fun! Last Sunday, I attended a lamp-working workshop and went for a practice session today as well. Here are the beads that were made last week and you'll notice that none of them are round because making odd shapes is so much easier ... hahahahaha!
In lampworking, you melt glass rods (with a lampworking torch) onto a metal mandrel which you twirl to shape the glass. Patterns are formed by melting glass rods of different colours.
The teacher makes it look so easy! And while it is loads and loads of fun, like any craft, you need to practise. Today's beads are still cooling down and then they need to be fired in a kiln, which the teacher will help with. Hopefully, I'll get today's creations tomorrow when I attend the glass fusing workshop. Can't wait!
